Perhaps an odd ‘thank you’ to the seven editors who rejected my manuscript. Never have I had such encouraging ‘no’s’. At one point I was tempted to publish the rejections and forget about the book. Each editor was courteous, often calling the next to recommend the book, for their Boards did not feel it had a ‘handle’, and this is a ‘bottom line’ market. But I was solidly encouraged to go on.
